Product Specification

Sodium Hypochlorite — NaOCl 12%

Sodium Hypochlorite is a pale greenish-yellow liquid (liquid chlorine bleach) supplied at 12% available chlorine. It is the workhorse disinfectant and bleaching agent for municipal water, sanitation, textiles and effluent treatment. Because available chlorine fades over time, we ship fresh stock with a third-party COA, GHS SDS and full IMDG documentation.

Freshness matters: Available chlorine fades with time, heat and light. We dispatch fresh stock and certify the strength at loading; for long lanes we advise on a small strength buffer and cool, shaded stowage.

Shipping & DG Compliance

Dangerous-Goods Handling

Sodium Hypochlorite is UN 1791, IMDG Class 8 (Corrosive), Packing Group II. Vented packaging and prompt, cool shipping preserve strength.

Hypochlorite slowly releases gas and loses available chlorine over time, so it ships in vented UN-approved HDPE drums or IBCs and is dispatched fresh. Each consignment carries the IMDG DG declaration, UN-marked packing certificate, GHS SDS and third-party COA, with Class 8 labelling. Keep cool, shaded and away from acids (which release chlorine gas), ammonia and metals; stow upright and avoid prolonged warm transit.

Safety & Handling

Storage & Handling

Sodium Hypochlorite is corrosive and releases chlorine gas if mixed with acid — handle with PPE and strict segregation.

⚠️

Corrosive
Causes skin and eye burns and bleaches fabric. Use gloves, goggles and resistant clothing.

☣️

Releases Chlorine with Acid
Never mix with acids or ammonia — toxic chlorine/chloramine gas is released. Segregate strictly.

🌡️

Decomposes with Heat & Light
Available chlorine fades over time; store cool, shaded and use fresh stock first.

📄

GHS SDS Supplied
GHS-compliant Safety Data Sheet and IMDG DG declaration with every shipment.
Africa, GCC & Asia Demand: Municipal and rural water authorities, sanitation and hospital buyers, textile and laundry units, and effluent-treatment plants across East/West Africa, the GCC and South Asia. SNJ Exim ships fresh stock with strength certified at loading.

Buyer FAQ

Common Questions

What strength of sodium hypochlorite do you export?
Standard export grade is 12% available chlorine (w/v). Reduced strengths (6–10%) are available on request. Available chlorine is certified on the lot COA at loading.
Why does available chlorine matter and how do you protect it?
Hypochlorite naturally loses available chlorine with time, heat and light. We dispatch fresh stock, certify strength at loading, and advise a small strength buffer plus cool, shaded stowage for long lanes.
Is sodium hypochlorite classified as dangerous goods?
Yes. NaOCl 12% is UN 1791, IMDG Class 8 (Corrosive), Packing Group II. Full DG documentation ships with every consignment.
Why must it ship in vented packaging?
Hypochlorite slowly off-gasses, so it ships in vented UN-approved drums and IBCs that release gas safely. Containers are never sealed gas-tight.
What packaging is available?
Vented UN-approved HDPE drums (250/50 kg) and vented composite IBC tanks (1000 L). Private-label and custom GHS labelling are available on agreed volumes.
What is the minimum order quantity?
One full container load, approximately 18–22 MT per 20-foot FCL. Trial quantities can be arranged for verified industrial buyers.
Which countries do you export sodium hypochlorite to?
Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ethiopia, South Africa, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Egypt, with full export documentation on every container.
How should sodium hypochlorite be stored?
In its vented UN-approved container, cool, shaded and upright, strictly away from acids, ammonia and metals. Use fresh stock first, as strength declines over time.
