Product Specification

Sodium Carbonate — Dense Grade

Soda Ash Dense is the high-bulk-density, coarse-grained form of sodium carbonate. Its larger, harder granules resist dust and flow freely, which makes it the standard grade for container and flat-glass batch houses, sodium-silicate furnaces and metallurgical flux. It melts efficiently with silica sand, lowering the glass-batch melting temperature. Chemically identical to the light grade — the difference is bulk density and particle size.

Applications

Key Industry Uses

Where dense-grade sodium carbonate is specified across heavy industry.

Glass Manufacturing
The primary use. Acts as a flux with silica sand to lower the melting point in container glass, flat/float glass and tableware.
Sodium Silicate
Furnace feedstock for silicate (water-glass) production used in adhesives, catalysts and detergents.
Metallurgy & Flux
Desulphurising and smelting flux in steel and non-ferrous metal processing.
Detergents
Alkalinity builder where a low-dusting, free-flowing grade is preferred for automated dosing.
Water Treatment
pH and alkalinity correction in municipal and industrial water; precipitation of hardness.
Chemical Processing
Raw material for sodium bicarbonate, chromates, phosphates and other downstream sodium salts.

Safety & Handling

Storage & Handling

Soda Ash Dense is not classified as dangerous for transport, but remains an alkaline, hygroscopic solid.

🌧️

Keep Dry
Absorbs moisture and CO₂. Store sealed, off the floor, in a dry covered warehouse.

🧤

Mild Irritant
Alkaline — irritates eyes, skin and respiratory tract. Use gloves, goggles and a dust mask.

🚫

Segregate from Acids
Reacts with acids releasing CO₂. Keep away from acids and incompatible materials.

📄

GHS SDS Supplied
GHS-compliant SDS provided with every quotation — no separate request needed.
Africa & GCC Market Context: Glass plants and silicate manufacturers in East/West Africa and the GCC are steady buyers of dense-grade soda ash. India-origin supply from Gujarat lands competitively against other origins, with consistent purity and full documentation on every FCL.

Buyer FAQ

Common Questions

Why is Dense grade preferred for glass making?
Its higher bulk density and coarse, low-dusting granules mix evenly with silica sand in the batch house, reduce carry-over losses and melt efficiently — improving furnace yield and glass quality.
Can you match a specific particle-size distribution?
Yes. Tell us your batch-house PSD requirement and we confirm the achievable specification on the lot Certificate of Analysis before shipment.
Is Soda Ash Dense dangerous goods?
No. Sodium carbonate is not regulated under IMDG and ships as general cargo. A GHS SDS is provided with every shipment.
What is the minimum order quantity?
One full container load (~26–27 MT per 20′ FCL), in bags or jumbo bags. Bulk options can be discussed for repeat buyers.
Which countries do you export soda ash to?
We regularly ship Soda Ash Dense to glass, silicate and metallurgical buyers in Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ethiopia, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Egypt and South Africa, with full export documentation on every container.
Can you supply both dense and light soda ash in the same container?
Yes. Dense and light grades can be combined in a single 20′ FCL when your volumes don’t fill a full container of each. Each grade is bagged, marked and certified separately with its own COA.

Export Markets & Commercial Terms

Where We Supply

SNJ Exim ships glass-grade Soda Ash Dense in full-container loads from Ankleshwar, Gujarat to container-glass and silicate plants across three regions.

We regularly export Soda Ash Dense to container-glass plants, sodium-silicate producers and metallurgical buyers in Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and Ethiopia (East & West Africa); the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman (GCC); and Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Vietnam (South & Southeast Asia), alongside Egypt and South Africa. Every container leaves Gujarat with a complete export document set — Bill of Lading, third-party Certificate of Analysis, Certificate of Origin and GHS Safety Data Sheet — so your customs clearance and batch-house QC are covered on arrival.
