Applications

Key Industry Uses

Where buyers across Africa, the GCC and South Asia deploy hydrochloric acid.

Mining & Ore Leaching
Acid leaching and pH control in gold, copper and base-metal recovery; a top-demand application across Southern Africa.
Steel Pickling & Metal Treatment
Removes oxide scale and rust from steel strip and wire before galvanising, drawing and finishing.
Water & Effluent Treatment
pH correction and neutralisation in municipal and industrial water plants and ion-exchange resin regeneration.
Textile Processing
Bath pH control, neutralising and souring in cotton and synthetic fabric pre-treatment and dyeing.
Food Processing
Food-grade HCl for starch hydrolysis (glucose/dextrose), gelatin and pH adjustment under controlled limits.
Chemical Synthesis
Feedstock for calcium chloride, ferric/ferrous chloride, PVC/EDC chains and oil-well acidising.

Shipping & DG Compliance

Dangerous-Goods Handling

Hydrochloric Acid is UN 1789, IMDG Class 8 (Corrosive), Packing Group II. Every shipment leaves Gujarat with complete dangerous-goods paperwork.

As a corrosive liquid, HCl is shipped only in UN-approved HM-HDPE jerrycans, square mousers or composite IBCs — never decanted into uncertified containers. Each consignment includes the IMDG DG declaration, UN-marked packing certificate, GHS Safety Data Sheet and third-party COA, with hazard labels and the Class 8 placard applied. Store and stow away from alkalis, oxidisers and reactive metals; the acid fumes, so keep containers closed and well ventilated.

Safety & Handling

Storage & Handling

Hydrochloric Acid is a corrosive, fuming liquid — handle with full PPE and good ventilation.

⚠️

Corrosive (Class 8)
Causes severe skin and eye burns. Use chemical-resistant gloves, goggles and apron.

😷

Inhalation Risk
Releases pungent HCl fumes. Use only in well-ventilated areas; respiratory protection where needed.

🚫

Segregate from Alkalis & Metals
Reacts violently with bases and many metals (hydrogen release). Store apart from oxidisers.

📄

GHS SDS Supplied
GHS-compliant Safety Data Sheet and IMDG DG declaration provided with every shipment.
Africa, GCC & Asia Demand: HCl is our highest-volume acid in Africa — mining operations in South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe; textile mills in Kenya, Ethiopia and Egypt; and water-treatment plants across East Africa. GCC industrial buyers and Bangladesh/SE-Asia textile processors round out regular demand.

Buyer FAQ

Common Questions

What concentration of hydrochloric acid do you export?
Standard export grade is 30–33% w/w commercial HCl. A low-iron grade and food/technical grades are available on request, with the exact specification confirmed on each lot’s third-party Certificate of Analysis.
Is hydrochloric acid classified as dangerous goods?
Yes. HCl is UN 1789, IMDG Class 8 (Corrosive), Packing Group II. Every shipment includes the IMDG DG declaration, UN-marked packing certificate, GHS SDS and third-party COA.
What packaging options are available?
UN-approved HM-HDPE jerrycans (25/35 L), square mousers (25/35 L) and composite IBC tanks (1000 L). IBC suits forklift unloading and bulk dosing; jerrycans suit distribution.
What ports do you ship hydrochloric acid from?
We load from Nhava Sheva (JNPT), Mundra and Hazira, the main west-coast container ports serving our Ankleshwar base in Gujarat.
Do you supply a low-iron grade for textiles and food?
Yes. A low-iron HCl grade (Fe ≤ 5 ppm) is available for textile, bright-metal, water-treatment and food applications, certified on the lot COA.
What is the minimum order quantity?
One full container load, approximately 18–22 MT per 20-foot FCL depending on packaging. Trial quantities can be arranged for verified industrial buyers.
Which countries do you export hydrochloric acid to?
Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ethiopia, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Egypt, with full export documentation on every container.
How should hydrochloric acid be stored?
In closed UN-approved HDPE/composite containers, in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from alkalis, oxidisers and reactive metals. The acid fumes, so keep containers sealed when not in use.
